Drums & Other Percussion
Bio-
The drums have been a way of life for me since around age 10 through drumming on anything I could find and about a year and a half later i found myself at middle school band try-outs, and it all began. The band directors required all percussionists to play a wind instrument for 6-weeks before we could switch to percussion and I was itching for a pair of sticks. Six weeks later, it was all forward from there. Since then I've performed in many concert bands and symphonic bands playing snare drum all the way to marimba and timpani. High school rolled around and marching band was something I had been long looking forward to for the last two years. Try-outs came around and I made the Tenor-Line as a freshman, a feat I was quite excited about. Although drumline camp was very hard the first time through, being the only freshman that made the line, I survived and had found my love in life. Drumline and other band related activities were all I focused on for the next 4 years, and they were a wonderful 4 years. My senior year in high school I decided to try out for the high school jazz band for the fun of it, considering I had never REALLY sat behind a drumset long enough to musically play with a band, I figured why not? I made the jazz band and held the top drummer/percussionist spot in the band without ever having any formal training or lessons on drumset. It was the greatest musical experience I had been a part of thus far. Soon after making the jazz band I was given a drumset from a close church friend of mine and from then on out it was my focus and goal to learn that piece of equipment better than I had ever learned an instrument before. I began playing in any spare time I had and upon graduating, obtained a job as a drum tech at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Texas (just outside of Lubbock). Music been a wonderful part of my life, right below my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and my wonderfully supportive family.
My Savior and my family mean everything to me. Playing drums for my cousin Jason Nutt is the greatest musical opportunity I've been blessed with thus far.
Influences: My family, my God, my wonderful friends, the wonderful teachers I've had throughout the years, Benny Greb, Rich Redmond, Travis Barker, Anberlin, the wonderful world of Jazz Music
